The Aberdeen Carolina & Western Railway Company offers railcar transloading services for those looking to set up a rail distribution center in North Carolina. We have strategic partnerships with trucking companies for transloading from rail to truck/truck to rail and getting your freight where it needs to be. Transloading involves moving liquid and dry bulk commodities from one mode to the other, yielding the efficiency of rail for the long-haul and truck for the short-haul.
Charlotte Transload Facility
In 2009, we partnered with KAG logistics to construct a transload facility near Charlotte, NC. At this location, unit trains of ethanol from the midwest are brought in by railcar and transfered to truck, which is then distributed to nearby fuel blending facilities.
Star Transload Facility
We also transload domestic renewable fuels in Star, NC. Similarly, the commodities are pumped from rail to truck. This facility is only 45 miles of highway to Greensboro, NC, and is a great location for anyone needing freight delivered into that market.

customers using our freight services
The Aberdeen Carolina & Western Railway is a shortline or regional railroad in North Carolina with connections to both Norfolk Southern (NS) and CSX, providing first mile or last mile freight transportation services. Above is a map of customers on our railroad. Our tracks go all the way into downtown Charlotte, and our rail lines extend within close proximity to Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point, Raleigh and Fayetteville. In addition, we are near major markets in South Carolina such as Columbia, Rock Hill, Greenville, and Spartanburg. Our location would make a good rail distribution center or site for an industrial facility.
