Rail freight transportation is the bread and butter of the Aberdeen Carolina & Western Railway Company. We carry freight for 23 customers ranging from manufacturers to distributors, moving as little as a few cars a year to moving thousands per year. We have a well maintained locomotive fleet, and our rail infrastructure can handle 90 car unit trains at 286,000 pounds per car. We invite any rail customer coming to North Carolina to consider our railroad as a home for their new facility.

The Aberdeen Carolina & Western Railway Company offers railcar transloading services for those looking to set up a rail distribution center in North Carolina. We have strategic partnerships with trucking companies for transloading from rail to truck/truck to rail and getting your freight where it needs to be. Transloading involves moving liquid and dry bulk commodities from one mode to the other, yielding the efficiency of rail for the long-haul and truck for the short-haul.

For industrial customers who do not have the personnel or equipment to move railcars at their plant operations, we will provide the service of pulling and spotting the railcars. This involves using our employees and our locomotives to get a train loaded or unloaded at a facility. For customers with their own locomotive and personnel, we do provide regular locomotive maintenance (see below).

We do regular inspections and repair for customers' leased locomotives. We also have a mobile maintenance program to service locomotives for companies not on our railroad. We currently serve customers in Virginia, Tennessee, and South Carolina. Our experts have decades of experience, making us a great asset to industrial customers who require a working set of power.
